At First Foundation Preschool, we understand that every stage of early childhood is unique. That’s why our centre offers three specially designed learning environments — the Turtle, Dolphin, and Starfish Rooms — each thoughtfully created to support children’s growth, learning, and happiness.
The three rooms are designed to reflect the natural progression of a child’s growth — emotionally, physically, socially, and intellectually — by providing tailored care, resources, and learning experiences suited to their age and ability.

Turtle Room (0–2 Years)
The Turtle Room is a calm, gentle space where your littlest learner can feel safe, loved, and genuinely supported. Designed specifically for our youngest children, the room runs on flexible routines and personalised care shaped around each child's individual needs. Through sensory play and gentle exploration, babies and toddlers begin building their very first skills - always under the close care of our experienced educators. Our educators partner closely with families to reflect your home routines, helping your baby settle in and feel secure from day one. Consistent, familiar routines help little ones feel safe and grow in confidence.
A dedicated sleep room sits right beside the play space, so children can be closely monitored during rest with soft background music for a calm, relaxing atmosphere.
A separate outdoor play area is also designed just for our youngest explorers, with a focus on gentle sensory and gross motor development.
Dolphin Room (2–4 Years)

Our Dolphin Room takes its name from qualities we see in your child every day - curiosity, intelligence, and a genuine sense of community. For children aged 2 to 4, this vibrant space encourages children to actively lead their own learning, exploring and growing together with the same collaborative spirit as a pod of dolphins.

For children aged 2–4 years, this vibrant space encourages active participation, empowering children to lead their own learning journeys with the grace and collaboration of a dolphin pod.

Our program fuels their curiosity, creativity, and passion for learning through rich, play-based experiences and exciting inquiry-led projects. We encourage asking questions, experimenting, and persisting through challenges, with educators guiding and extending their discoveries.
Powerful Communicators: Just as dolphins use complex sounds to communicate, we nurture your child’s developing language and communication skills. Through storytelling, dramatic play, group discussions, and diverse creative expressions (art, music, movement), children learn to voice their ideas, negotiate with peers, and respectfully resolve conflicts.

A separate outdoor area lets children in this age group explore freely alongside their peers.

Starfish Room (4–5+ Years)

The Starfish Room takes its name from the qualities we help every child build here - resilience, adaptability, and the capacity to grow through challenge. For children aged 4 to 5+ preparing for their next big leap into school, we focus on building strong social, emotional, and foundational academic skills, so every child feels genuinely ready - not just for their first day, but for everything that follows.

Empowering Agency & Self-Regulation: Like a starfish that can regrow, we foster children’s resilience, problem-solving abilities, and independence. We empower them to make choices, take responsibility for their learning, and develop strategies for managing emotions and navigating challenges. This builds the confidence crucial for school readiness.
Deepening Curiosity & Pre-Literacy/Numeracy: Our program engages children in complex, inquiry-based play and projects that naturally embed pre-literacy, pre-numeracy, and scientific thinking. We spark critical thinking, questioning, and exploration, preparing them for the structured learning environments of primary school.
Collaborative & Effective Communication: We cultivate advanced communication skills, encouraging children to express ideas clearly, listen actively, negotiate, and work cooperatively in groups. Role-playing, storytelling, and collaborative problem-solving equip them with the social fluency needed for diverse school settings.
Seamless Transition to School: We actively prepare children for the school environment by developing routines, independence, and foundational learning skills. This includes promoting self-help, group participation, following instructions, and fostering a love of learning that extends beyond the classroom. We also facilitate connections with local schools to ensure a smooth and confident transition.

A School Readiness Program runs every day, shaped around each child's own interests and goals, with a clear focus on preparing them for the year ahead.
This program is led by our long-standing, highly qualified educators - including a university-qualified early childhood teacher - giving children the space to explore, build self-confidence, and connect with their peers through play-based inquiry.
Set within our long day care hours, each child follows an individually tailored learning plan focused on their own interests and the skills they'll need for success at school and beyond.
Languages are incorporated into the daily program through ELLA — a digital language program and Australian Government initiative that introduces words, sentences and songs in other languages before formal schooling begins.
We also introduce STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) through everyday and planned activities - like cooking, simple robotics, nature exploration, and construction - helping build problem-solvers, explorers, and creative thinkers with real resilience.
